Violin: Kyoung-Joo Sung
Throughout Europe, USA and South Korea, violinist Kyoung-Joo Sung has made his name known to the public as a stunning and inspired professional soloist. After graduating from Seoul National University with honors, he earned his Artist Diploma from Oberlin Conservatory and his Master’s degree at the Juilliard School. He then went on to the University of Texas at Austin, where he received the Starling Distinguished Violinist Scholarship and completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
From an early age, Mr. Sung gained recognition from national critics for his awards in numerous competitions and his extraordinary talent. As a student at the University of Texas at Austin, he was awarded the Outstanding Doctor of Music Arts Chamber Recital Awards. Performing on an international scale, Mr. Sung has played as a soloist with orchestras such as the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra and in prestigious halls such as Musikverein Golden Hall in Vienna, Smetana Hall and Dvorak Hall in Prague, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall in the US. Mr. Sung also has participated in several international music festivals, including Aspen Music Festival and the Great Mountain Music Festival.
Currently, Mr. Sung is an associate professor at Gangwon National University in South Korea and an operation member of Chuncheon Cultural Foundation. He is also a member of Erato Ensemble, as well as a Music Director of String Ensemble ‘The Bridge’.
